AJ's 5th Birthday

AJ celebrated his 5th birthday with a party at the pool with his classmates and friends.  Instead of gifts from his friends we collected books for the school he will attend Kindergarten at in the fall.  We collected over 85 books for the school library!  And you know what?  The presents were not missed at the party...  We had a great time!
I wonder what is in this big box!

This front-end loader rocks!
Laying in the middle of all the books he collected!

Happy 5th Birthday AJ!

Best Valentine's Day EVER!

I don't care about Valentine's Day.  It is a pointless "holiday" but this one was the best one ever.  :)  I gave AJ the option of going to his class Valentine's Day party at school or going to the hospital with our social worker to pick up Natalie and bring her to her foster home for a month.  He chose to meet his new sister!  He was SO excited when he went to school yesterday- he had a big grin and was telling everyone- parents, teachers, all the other kids- that he was now a big brother.

Introducing Miss Natalie Jayne!

We left for the hospital on Sunday, February 12th at 3:30 am (after only a couple of hours sleep since I was texting with IMC through her contractions until 1 am) when we got the call from IMC's dad.  We got to the hospital at 5:15 am and got to hang out...  IMC's water hadn't broken yet but the contractions were close.  She went in for an epidural at noon and at 2:15 pm her water broke and it was time to go.  IMC wanted me in the room which was so touching and thoughtful so I held her hand for the 2 hours of hard labor and cried when Natalie came into the world at 4:14 pm.  It was so awesome!  Steve was outside pacing like a dad from the 50s.  We stayed until about 7:30 pm and came home with big goofy grins on our faces.  :)

The Announcement...

AJ is going to be a big brother!  We were picked a few weeks ago by a birth mother (referred to as IMC on the blog)!  We are all so excited.  IMC is due tomorrow with a baby GIRL!  Yes, a GIRL!  Yay!
AJ's swim teacher gave him this monkey to sleep with so that it has his scent on it so the baby will always know that her big brother is near.  :)  He named him Banana Split since most of his stuffed animals are named after desserts and it should just follow with his baby sister's animals.

We are waiting on pins and needles for the call that IMC is going to the hospital and we are ready to hop in the car to be there for her birth!

Snow Day!!

We had plenty of snow one Monday in January to spend the afternoon outside playing!  We have a hill in our front yard that is big enough (for a 4 year old) to sled down.  We had a ton of fun!
